Flushing

Welcome to the City and Charter Township of Flushing located a short distance west of Flint.  Flushing is a stable community with quality neighborhoods and good schools.  This city also boasts gorgeous views of the Flint River.  Anyone passing through downtown could find themselves at the Riverview Park enjoying the scenery before them. Flushing also has more parks and recreation area to choose from.

Community / Events

The City of Flushing offers a variety of annual events keeping the feel of that small town community strong. Many of these events take place in the beautiful Riverview Park**. Such events include: Various Running/Walking events, Concerts in the Park** (summer months), Walleye Festival, Cruise Nights (summer months), Art in the Park, Flushing Summerfest**, Movies in the Park**, Harvest Festival, and the holiday Candle Walk.

Neighborhoods / Golf

To add to the wonderful residential Neighbor hoods of Flushing there are 36 Golf Courses within 20 miles of downtown Flushing (15 of which are within 10 miles of Downtown), and many prestigious Subdivisions within the Charter Township of Flushing.

Parks and Recreation

You can visit any one of Flushing´s parks and recreational area. The various city parks include: Bonneview Park (also known as Mutton park) Cornwell Park, Eastview Park (also includes ice and roller-skating), River Road Park, Riverview Park (includes Tucker Pool and is the location of many of Flushing´s annual and seasonal events), and Waterworks park.  Flushing also has a YMCA that offers various activities year round. Flushing´s Senior center offers many activities including AARP Meetings, Garden Sharing, Legal Services, Educational Activities, Trips, Cards, Bingo, Exercise, Dances, Bowling, Guest Speakers and more!

Schools

Flushing schools were founded in 1844 and have progressed to a highly respected educational system. This school system now has 4 Elementary Schools, 1 Middle School, and 1 High School. In the 2000 approximately 20% of Flushing´s Population was made up of school aged children.  Within this school district there are 228 Teachers, 15 Administrators, and 184 various Support Staff Members.  The Raiders offer a variety of Sporting opportunities for both boys and girls of all ages including but not limited to Football, Baseball / Softball, Swimming, Soccer, Skiing, Track and Tennis. Flushing´s schools also boast an award winning marching band the "Marching Raiders" are recognized wherever they travel and they reflect the spirit and history of Flushing.
